Meet Bec

I have always wanted to be a mum, while others were saying lawyer or fireman or chef or farmer, I knew mine was ‘mum’.

Originally from New Zealand and surrounded by big families on both sides, I would say influenced this quite a lot.

I moved to Australia after high school with my mum, dad and three younger sisters and studied Journalism and Communication at university in Brisbane, giving me my first taste of Brisbane culture, which I loved...

My family was on the Sunshine Coast and having been diagnosed with Endometriosis at 19 and having health complications flair up, I moved back there for several years working in insurance and accommodation before moving back to Brisbane in a Communications and Community corporate role.

My journey to realise my dream of being a mum was a struggle with endometriosis including enduring 11 operations as well as multiple and all available treatment options. I am grateful for this as it has led to changing career paths and I am currently studying psychology and medicine.

Around the same time as meeting Pete, my husband, my endometriosis became severe and we were told there was a very slim chance of us conceiving.

Deciding to try IVF, we completed all the testing, however our son had a different idea and started calling my belly home the month before we were to start hormone injections. Pregnancy was the happiest and most anxious time for me with all the ‘what ifs’.

When Finn finally came ‘earthside’ thanks to my amazing team at Eve Health, we were completed besotted and knew that our world had changed and that we would change the world for him. Meeting Mia through Eve’s mother’s group was like finding my soul sister.

We were unique enough to compliment each other and yet still had so much in common with our ideals and how we viewed the amazing responsibility placed on us as parents. While we were doing our own research through multiple sources and lots of noise, we found other mumma’s were interested in what we were putting into practice with our little ones and Mums of May was born.
